Equipment and Labs

EQUIPMENT: 

Students are provided with the equipment needed to produce their film projects. The Equipment Cage is a space for reserving and checking in/out Film Studies equipment. This space is managed by the Media Technology and Equipment Specialist, Brandon Doherty, and operated with assistance from student workers. Their goal is to maintain this equipment and coordinate its use by Film Studies Department students, faculty, and staff.

Equipment is a shared resource, and it is the priority of the Equipment Room to support an equal and fair opportunity for the use of this equipment.

Students MUST be enrolled in a Film Studies class to have access to equipment and labs.

Students MUST receive training before being authorized to use equipment, labs, and any other additional Film Studies facilities.

Students MUST do a contract each semester for access.

LABS: 

Students are provided with all of the computer hardware and software needed to produce their film projects.

Labs are located in the Media Arts Center in rooms 142 and 169. Labs are accessed with door codes that are distributed by instructors for advance classes; the Media Arts Center is accessible during hours of general operation and is accessible after hours for students with swipe access only. Swipe access must be activated at the start of each semester by Campus Safety.

General Lab-Room 142 hours:

Monday 2:00pm to 5:00 pm Open lab

Tuesday 2:00pm to 5:00 pm Open lab

Wed 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Open Lab, 3 to 5pm Film Tutor
Friday 2:00pm to 5:00 pm Open lab, 5 to 10pm Monitor
Saturday 11 to 7 Monitor
Sunday 11 to 7 Monitor

*Please note, if a class ends early we will open the labs.

FOOD + DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN LABS 

Other Film Studies facilities in the MAC include: Capstone Editing Suites (Avid, Adobe Creative Cloud), Recording and Mixing Suite (narration mic, and mixing setup), Stop-Motion Animation Suite (DragonFrame), 16mm film Editing Suite (Steenbeck Flatbed), and the Green Screen Studio (green screen, lighting grid).
