Christina Pitsch is a mixed media sculptor known for her precise craftsmanship with numerous materials. An expert in mold making, she often uses this technique to create multiple objects that come together to create installations that address perceptions of opulence. She holds a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Pitsch has exhibited extensively both in the US and internationally. Her exhibitions have been reviewed by the Boston Globe and Artscope. She was recently featured in Art New England for the studio visit series. Pitsch has had numerous residencies, including multiple stints as an artist-in-residence at the European Ceramic Work Center (Oisterwijk, Netherlands), The Clay Studio (Philadelphia, PA) and Guanlan Printmaking Base (Guanlan, China). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is the recipient of a Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Artist’s Resource Trust grant as well as a New Hampshire Artist grant. Her work can be seen in the Seattle Tacoma airport as part of the Delta Airlines corporate collection. Pitsch works from her studio in Manchester, New Hampshire where she and her husband share a converted warehouse live\/work space with their two pet greyhounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Material culture, historical image, and literary influences converge in the work of Denise Pelletier. Addressing the body as both flesh and social construct, her ceramic and mixed media objects and installations make use of reinvented cultural artifacts, displaced or transformed to create new meanings and re-imagined narratives. Her work has been shown extensively in the United States and abroad, including shows in Taiwan, Sweden, Germany, and Canada, and she has held residencies in the Netherlands, France, New York, Maine and in the Kohler Arts\/Industry program. Denise earned an MFA in Ceramics from Alfred University in 1994, and currently teaches at Connecticut College, where she is the Roman and Tatiana Weller Professor of Art. She lives and works in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
