Dear Academic Affairs Staff,

As we eagerly anticipate the opening of our 2017-2018 academic year, I wanted to share a few brief calendar notes for your convenience.  In the past, we held an Academic Affairs staff meeting in mid-August followed by a similar meeting for the whole division during the Opening Week.  As the Academic Year Startup Events schedule was shared earlier this week, you may notice we did not schedule the usual Academic Affairs Staff meeting.  We are hoping to consolidate meetings where possible, reducing the out-of-office time commitment at this busy time of year.

As I value your perspective and being able to talk with you about projects and priorities in Academic Affairs, I am excited to institute Academic Affairs Staff Meetings with the Provost to be offered each semester.  Please mark your calendars for the Fall Academic Affairs Staff meeting to be held Friday, September 22nd at 9:30 am in the Mountainview Room.

The start-up of the academic year will be busy for faculty, staff, and administrators alike; but now more than ever it is important for us to come together as a community.  I hope you can attend Opening Week activities, especially the President’s Opening address (Monday, August 21st, at 10:30 am in the Mabel Brown Room) and the Academic Affairs Division Meeting (Tuesday, August 22nd, at 8:30 am in the Mabel Brown Room).

I look forward to seeing you around campus in the coming weeks.

William R. Seigh

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
